In this mercilessly-paced cat-and-mouse thriller, the rocketship-hot Cloris
Leachman (who knew that Beverly Ann was so damn HOT?!) is terrorized
by a group of desert motel hicks when her husband (Coleman) disappears while
she is in the café restroom. Admittedly stagey and with an agonizingly
slow burn, Dying Room Only is nonetheless a fantastically
creepy flick that builds gradually and sadistically to a kicker climax that
features several deaths, a blinding by highway flare, and Cloris essentially
doing her best Sally from Texas Chainsaw. Definitely one
of the best-acted and most tense of the MOTWs, and a standout because it
doesn't over-explain anything, nearly to the point where it's difficult
to figure out what happened. |
