CampBlood Homo Horror Features: So Readable They Hurt

The Initiation of Sarah   1978
Kay Lenz, Shelley Winters, Morgan Fairchild, Tisa Farrow
One of the hottest MOTWs, this Carrie ripoff places two sisters in the path of dueling sororities, with tragic consequences. Lenz’s Sarah is not nearly as introverted as Carrie White, and her lashing out at the popular kids after a nasty prank is incredibly tame next to, say, wiping out the entire senior class at the prom, but the rest of the story is intact, complete with bitchy blondes, sympathetic brunettes, and a crazy, occult-obsessed matron with a sketchy past. Throw in some awesomely disaffected sorority sisters (the PEDs are gloriously apathetic) and lots of feathered hair (the AES girls are tweezed and lipglossed within an inch of their lives), and you’ve got the makings of a wonderfully mean teen angst flick. The last 30 minutes lose steam, but the first hour is first-rate. And how can you not celebrate Moran Fairchild getting blown into a fountain in front of her pledges?.
