Witchcraft was to the late seventies what cocaine was the the eighties, nineties, and today. Probably due to the phenomenal success of Carrie (which reminded everyone just how disgusting women's bodies are and how their naughty parts do, indeed, make them conduits of the purest evil), there were a spate of Teen Witch MOTWs that basically ripped off the film with different girls, to varying degrees of success.

The moral was always clear: if she was fat, ugly, or shy -- stay away or she'll drop a piano on your ass!
