It was finally time to get down to posting a tribute to that wonderfully trashy mainstay of late-seventies/early-eighties entertainment, Fleetwood Mac. No, that's not it -- I meant the Movie of the Week. Shot with care on soundstages that almost approximated real locations and peppered with late-career swan-dive performances by some of our greatest actors, these odd specimens may have bridged the gap between classic whodunits and the slasher cycle, and certainly sold a shitload of Alka Seltzer and Hai Karate cologne during their commercial breaks -- and for this they deserve our love. Below you will find my humble thoughts on these occasionally wonderful and always curious little films, lovingly rated and given Special Features for easy identification and cross-dressing. I mean, cross-referencing. Of course. Where's my cocktail... There are certainly more of these to come, as I haven't put a dent in this shit! Super-duper thanks to the luminous and exceedingly well-mannered Amanda by Night for her tireless contributions to the cause -- her reviews are credited as such. Click
on the titles for description and cross-referencing: let the lunacy begin! |
