This week CampBlood Comics offers some news from the comics-related world of animation! has just launched an animated web series called Mari-Kari starring Shannen Doherty. This series is centered around two creepy 7-year-old identical twins. Mari is cute and clueless while her dead sister and BFF haunts by her side and acts as her “guardian angel”, bringing an unfortunate end to anyone that tries to cross her. The high gore factor combined with the cute character designs make for a lot of fun.

Another crazy cartoon I wanted to call attention to is  5-on, from the same creators of Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans. It’s pretty hilarious as host Alan Whiter roams the street interviewing creatures of all sorts about their opinions on a variety of hot topics including the environment, celebrities, immigration, and politics. In fact, 5-on was the inspiration for the series on Comedy Central, and some of the same characters appear in both.

In not-so-twisted animated horror news: Are you aware that Disney and Guillermo del Toro teamed up to create Double Dare You, a new division focused on creating animated films full of chills and thrills for audiences of all ages? It was announced last year and the first project in development is called Trollhunters, an original del Toro story which he will produce. I can’t seem to find any artwork related to Trollhunters, but keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground for more news!

…and don’t forget today is WEDNESDAY! That’s “Comic Book Day” and you might want to check out these new titles in stores today:

Dracula #1, Marvel Comics. This is the same mini-series based on Bram Stoker‘s tale and published back in 2004. However, the gorgeous artwork by the great Dick Giordano has been colored by the talented June Chung. Also check out the new and amazing cover art by Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic!

Buzzard #1, Dark Horse Comics. If you’re a fan of Eric Powell or his series The Goon, then you’ll be happy to see that his universe continues to expand with the mysterious “Buzzard” debuting in his own series. This comic features undead zombies and savages with vintage “old timey” appeal.

Hack Slash (My First Maniac) #1, Image Comics. The critically acclaimed cult horror hit HACK/SLASH returns in a new mini series. The main character, Cassie Hack, is the daughter of an undead murderer known as the Lunch Lady and must decide if she wants to use her newfound slashing skills to save others. If you nothing about the original series, it’s OK. Apparently it’s a great time to jump on board.

If you’re wondering what’s happened to Buzz and Chucky at The Mystery at CampBlood please note that it’s on a short break. They’ll return soon along with a new exclusive 3-page short horror story with a sci-fi twist.
