After a brief holdup due to special effects (Industrial Light and Magic can be such a bear to deal with!) our latest installment of Blood Work! is up and streaming!
This week we recap True Blood episode 2.10 and talk smiting, mythology, Exterminator Jason, Top Chef: Meat Tree and much, much more … including the ever-growing list of loose ends that – In Our View – plagued the episode. What were our favorite moments, and with whom would we like to Do Bad Things?
Find out these things and more (including which paper dolls are coming later today!) in this week’s ep, after the jump!

Well, there goes my theory on why certain non-supes are immune to Maryann’s control. Andy and Lafayette were both drinking heavily in this episode and still didn’t turn all ‘saucer-eyed’ (although I supposed it’s possible that Maryann’s influence is all tapped-out keeping the entire town under her control 24-7). While I enjoyed this week’s show, I don’t see how all of the dangling plot lines are going to be wrapped up in just two more episodes. Was I the only person who noticed that Bill seemed to get exponentially cooler when he went to visit Sophie-Ann? (He was dressed better than usual, and even his walk seemed to have a little extra swagger.) The ‘connection’ between Eric and Sookie didn’t feel particularly forced to me (especially since she’s not actually acting on any of her fantasies). Sookie’s attraction to Bill was clearly intensified after she first drank his blood in the first season (I seem to recall a scene in which she had a fairly intense fantasy about Bill while reclining on the front steps of his house). I just wonder why it doesn’t occur to her that Bill might be trying to manipulate her just as much as Eric.
It will be interesting to see if they explain why some people are affected by Maryann and others don’t. “Cream Cheese” wasn’t affected either, and she was a V user. So what’s up with Andy and Tara’s ma.
I’m surprised you guys rated this one so low, my only disappointment with the episode was how short it was. I think Sookie and Eric have way more chemistry than Sookie & Bill, so the opening dream worked for me.
I’m wondering if Sookie’s hand-flash is a forcefield a la Invisible Girl from Fantastic Four or Jean Grey’s from X-Men.
I can’t wait to meet Queen Sophie Anne
This episode seemed lacking, but it’s unfair to compare it to the beauty that was last week. Maybe they should get Willow to do a witch thingie to bring Godric back from the dead undead.
When Sookie did the glowing thing with her hand that sent Maryanne into an orgasmic frenzy, I actually said out loud “My God. Sookie is Harry Potter” because that’s what Harry did to Professor Quirrel. Then when Tara looked back at her mother and did the “he’s gonna kill us all,” all I could think was, “Rutina Wesley has AMAZING bone structure.” The episode seemed disjointed, like when someone’s about to say something, then says “never mind.”
Rutina Wesley said in an interview that there will be a cliffhanger and it’ll be bigger than last season’s. I remember the uproar over that one. Something tells me I’ll be pissed.
But you guys were incredibly entertaining, as always.
Aw
I am totally a Tara/Sam ‘shipper.
I totally agree with the Whateva Sookies (my favorite part of your vlog) The idea of Sookie and Eric makes me ill.
Your paper dolls are wonderful!
I got fixated on Andy’s haircut, have to watch again.
Maybe Andy, Lafayette, and other non-Supes are not affected because they have not eaten food at Maryann’s parties. Maybe her control is through the food and beverage prepared specifically by her influence.
I agree! The key to MaryAnn’s power is the yucky stuff she puts in the drinks that she serves at the orgies. Then after the blood stew, Tara and Eggs were goners; but everyone affected had some of the original brew that presumably was prepared with “Miz Jennette’s” heart.
That can’t be so, because Hoyt’s mama wasn’t at any of the orgies or feasts, yet she’s all bug-eyed. I think that Maryann has to act on you directly, which begs the question why Lafayette, Lettie Mae, and Andy have all been unaffected, since they have been in her presence. Hoyt and Jason have not, and everyone else is a confirmed supe (I may be leaving someone out, but I don’t think so).
It’s true that some have not ceded to Maryanne’s whims, why we don’t know. I’d like to offer some reasons, Some have had no contact with Maryanne, some may be supernatural’s (we’ve seen maynads, shapeshifters, vampires… there could be faries, nymphs, ghosts, you get the picture). As to Sookies new power I think it is related to the sunlight episode as her hands glowed. Could she be a supernatural, maybe not a pure one but a generational one..
Next year change your Whatever Sookie to just a Whatever moment… Mine would have been when Sam was trapped first let out of the refridge… I’d have changed instantly to that fly and gotten the hell away from there.
You’re so dead on about Sam’s reluctance to shift before the last minute – it was one of the most glaring inconsistencies of the ep and of course our complaint about it ended up on the vlog cutting room floor! The plot seems to be getting in the way of the characters, which I hope doesn’t last long.
Buzz, I have season one on DVD’s and see where Matt Ratree’s chain around his neck gets mysteriously tighter which goes unexplained. (I thought it might have been Sookie or may Claudine hiding in the bushes.) but can not find where Sookie is lying in the sun and kind of glows. Maybe I misunderstood you. Can you tell me what episode that is in?
Also, during season one I thought I read somewhere where Alan Ball said he was going to give Sookie extra powers but thought he was intentionally misleading us.
When I think about it, mind reading is not as visually flashy as glowing whammy hands.
In the book, the scene with the Rattray’s mention that chain tightening around Mack’s neck, but after 9 books there has never been another mention about Sookie’s possible telekenesis (or somebody else being there). I thought they perhaps intended to leave some bread crumbs here and there hinting to Sookie’s unknown powers, but after Cocoon hands in this ep, I think they are jumping the Sookie power shark.
The scene where Sookie is laying on Bill’s porch is “Sparks Fly Out” I believe, but she is V-ing out after having his blood and is getting all handsy in her pantsy. It’s hard to miss.
maybe it’s her super fairy heritage… or something
dammit i wish they would explain wtf happened
HAHAHA I loved that PADMA IMITATION.
Andy, great t-shirt. I want to say “Kitty Krueger” – what’s its name?
Padma and MaryAnn – that would have been funny.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with your analysis of the episode. There were some great moments but the episode ended a bit early and it didn’t really work well together.
I’m hoping that the last two will be spectacular and tie everything together.
If MaryAnn dies or is killed it should be Tara’s hand that does the killin’
I don’t think we really know enough about Eric to say whether he’s more interesting than Bill. The most interesting thing about Eric is PAM.
If you guys ever interview Alan Ball tell him WE NEED MORE PAM!
CoryJ: I just saw a pic from next week’s episode… PAM is back!! And she is looking goooooood!! Shiny red designer outfit head to toe with her hair all done up… the works!! Whoo-Hoo!! I’m looking forward to that. Oh yeah, and something else: Bill in swim trunks!
That’s great news. Bill has a great butt, as we saw last season (twice) and once this season. And Pam, I can’t wait, it’s been a long while since we’ve last seen her talking to Lafayette.
CoryJ: Andy created the “Humbert’s Revenge” tee for CampBlood a few years back – it’s still available (as are totes, buttons, magnets, mousepads and mugs with the same graphic) in the CampBlood Swag Shop if you’d like one!
Thank for the tip. “Humbert’s Revenge” I like that.
words to live by: if it dont gel, it ain’t aspic.
The influence of Maryann:
I believe that Maryann was gaining strength with the parties she kept throwing. The more people came to her parties, the more influence she had over them. Her power grew, so when she went around the town looking for Sam she was more easily able to influence the people. Hoyt was in Dallas at the time. Andy and Lafayette were holed up in their own spaces. Also: Lafayette may not feel that he needs to let go any more than he has. Andy has certainly let go of a lot of his control with his drinking… and Hoyt as hell… where Jessica and his mom are concerned. Jason is certainly an impulsive person as well. Perhaps they would feel the sway less.
i agree with the maryann influence on those attending her parties minus if you have a sup power (like andy, who i think is some how a sup and i think the ‘god-who-comes’ is actally karl). those are just assumptions….
First – I just had to let you know that our entire tribe looks as much forward to your vlogs as to the show itself, and that you guys are absolutely non-ADA special!
Second – maybe the “glowing hands on MaryAnne’s head” thing is another, bigger hint about Sookie’s fairy heritage, which I expect to come into greater play at some point soon. That would account for Jason’s immunity to the black oil-eye syndrome, as well (stolen directly from the X-Files, BTW).
Plus, we’re pretty certain the squirrelly juniper and rattlebox stew MaryAnne brews up is a heart-flavored crazy potion, not unlike a few things we’ve cooked up around here (another story)…plus, in Bill’s words, “Virtually all humans are highly susceptible to some form of thought control or another.” Virtually, but not all. And completely off-subject, shouldn’t there be a special font format command for the !?Southern dialect?! ’cause I just needed it really bad.
Third – watching Eric and Sookie is like accidentally walking in on someone else watching porn. What do you do? Do you just ignore it, pretend it’s not rolling in the background, or do you sit down and start critiquing the action. Such a quandry.
Fourth – these upcoming scenes between Bill and Sophie Anne should tell us a lot about pre-Sookie Bill (more I hope than those awful Bill & Lorena ones). Even in the books, we’re never really told a lot about Bill, who I personally think is much more interesting than we’re led to believe. Think Dennis Rader, but in a good way.
Anyhoo – love, love, love you two…keep up the good Work!
I think the audience is going to find out about Bill’s initial motives in meeting Sookie in the last two episodes. I don’t think Sookie will find out for a while, but I think the audience will. Make us hate Bill, so we will be happy when Eric swoops in for the kill!
Hate Bill? No way… no how. Impossible. I might come to like Eric more, but I’ll never hate Bill.
I just stumbled across this. It’s another fab Lafayette animated GIF, of the hand gesture he did to ‘cream cheese’.
Here. I don’t think we can embed a photo in the comments here (probably a good thing).
And a bonus Mama Fortenberry playing Wii.
(thanks to the ONTD peeps for their gif making skills. You can skim the comments of this post to find more.)
I think that AB is incorporating bits of the later books to jazz up the current storyline. I don’t think Sookie’s new power will be revealed for quite some time but it does have something to do with why she’s (maybe) more different than Barry.
As for Hoyt and the other unaffected humans, we haven’t seen them at any of Maryann’s parties so perhaps he spell is like a contact high. It would explain why Eggs began to remember things -the bloody campsite – when he got far enough away from Maryann.
I would love to do bad things to Jason; god needs to make for him. I also have to say that I also wanted to do bad things to EMO Eric, though I think that scene was total fan service. A few drops of blood would make someone feel the polar opposite about someone. Oh well, I could go on and on about that those two, I just hope AB does that couple justice later on. Super happy Bill’s gone now. Maybe he’ll get a haircut while he’s in New Orleans.
I think that Maryann will leave on her on accord. According to the promo for next week, it looks as though AB may bring the storyline back to the book.
I know Andy doesn’t like Eric but I hope he makes a paper doll of him next.
First let me say I LOVE the vlog.
I agree with this episode being a major disappointment compared to last week’s. I thought Sookie’s magic fairy hands were super lame and out of the blue. I am really hoping AB doesn’t end the season with a super predictable Sookie-saves-the-day-with-her-magical-powers scene.
I am a huge Eric fan, but the dream sequence at the beginning did nothing for me. It just felt awkward. I’m actually really hoping for it to turn out that Eric is not manipulating Sook’s dreams. She’s a telepath who’s had the blood of a 1,000 year old vampire. Maybe she’s getting in Eric’s head during her dreams and doesn’t even know it.
I am really looking forward to meeting the Queen next week…and I hear my favorite viking will get his superman moment. Awesome.
Another Great V-blog!! Cream Cheese, lol Love Lafayette.
My problem with the Eric/Sookie thing is that they have no chemistry, I think AB is forcing it because of their relationship in the book…..I like seeing Eric naked too,but come on that dream sequence was bad!
Things I liked:
Jason sticking out his chest, and holding a nail gun!
Lafayette and Lafayette!
Commando Leader Terry/Hotmess Arlene……no words needed
Sam’s fantastic BUTT!! WOW
Ugh Moments:
The Orgy scene in the bar…..
Just a complete Vague plot developments ( Ya’ll named all of them)
After last week’s great episode I thoughgt they would have had Eric talk to Pam about Godric, I mean there was no closure there.
I don’t know what AB and the writers are gonna do to get this together in two episodes.
All I gotta say is I saw a picture from next week’s episode and Pam has on a sequined red jumpsuit, its about time!!
I would like Eric and Lafayette to have a talk before the season’s over, I like there interaction together and now since Lafayette isnt shell shock anymore it would be a great scene pleaseeee AB!
is the queen dead? I mean wtf we never got to even see her character and now Bill just waltzes into her palace and BAM- bloody foot? I can’t stand the cliffhanger!
Nope, not dead.
Brian smitting Andy over being a little too animated while playing WII is a bit harsh, dontcha think?! lol. you guys rock with your creative, hilirious intros….. favorite to date has to be the Brian/Lafeyette hump-dance. omfg!!
well, first and fore most: WHAT THE HELL WAS AB/HBO THINKING BY CUTTING 10-15 MINUTES OF TB???!!! seriously??? that is my biggest beef with this weeks show. they could have wrapped up some plot questions within those minutes or introduce us to the Queen (i am anxiously awaiting the awesome rachel evan wood)
with that being said, didn’t it feel like they were stretching the show out as long as they could and stopped at 40 minutes? i mean, I am with you guys on the whole merloette sam/andy/jason thing. they could have wrapped that up in 5 minutes by having sam shift. though, i get that sam probably didn’t want to leave andy/jason (WHAT IS UP WITH HIS INSANE LOYALITY TO BON TEMPS?!) behind with those crazys or shift in front of them….intially. i dunno…
yet again my whatever moment is handed out to Sam (he is my currently favorite character to drool over after Bill’s departure into weirdness but…..): WHAT IS UP WITH YOUR CRAZY BON TEMPS LOYALITY???!!! this is the second time you come back to merlotte’s when some one calls you. the average SANE person would have ignored BOTH phone calls and said ‘C-ya!’….c’mon babe. use your noogin!
also, hell yeah Gabrielle, Bill totally redeemed himself from all his bang-interference/bad vampire make-up/sappy Sookie obession with that ultra-hot james dean intro into the Queen’s place. i practically was licking the screen. mmmmmm…..
pros-
-jason’s crazy rambo/fake god scenes
-andy’s ‘and everyone thought i was crazy when i saw the PIG!’ and annie the nanny rant
-everything lafeyette! finally season one lafeyette emerges
-bill’s chrome-sleek swagger into the queens
cons
-basically the majority of the show (4 grace joneses for me)
ps…… when are we gonna see vampire andy from season one of the vlog again?! just wondering if he will come out of the coffin again.
pps…….love the new do andy!
I agree, I concur, on everything. Lafayette, Jason, Andy, Hoyt and Sam. Last week we were 10 min shy, the week before 5 min shy of hour….This week 40 MIN!!! Arugh!!! soooooo much could have been done with the so lose ends.
Loved this episode…I agree 7 Grace Jones’ I am all unraveled by this episode (said in my best Penelope Pit Stop Southern accent) *could somebodda Healp Little O’l me figure out what just Happened to True Blood This week….LOLOOO
I hope the 55 minutes lost in the last weeks make the season finally 2 hours!!! Cause by Godric above I haven’t a clue how they are gonna sweep up this mess and get rid of the Meat tree smell..ewwwww!!
And here I was hoping to see Eric in his Pink and Blue Spandix that would have been awesome.
OOO! Have a thought on why Lafayette, and Andy aren’t effected Bourbon!! not whine and beer drinks of the god. Not sure if Hoyt had any But when the poop hit the fan he was first with Jessica at Mr Bill’s (heheheh Mr Bill) away from the action, then in Dallas, As for Jason his heritage and the fact he was out of town and just tooooooo dumb to get it. Remember the line it was something about Judas being the first vamp and Jason in his indubitable wisdom said but Dracula was the first Vamp…lolo . As for “cream Cheese” she came from LSU campus not living in Bon Temps cause she said she needed V for finals. It is only affecting Bon Temps she drove to Lafayette’s she did not stop anywhere.
Keep up the great Vlogs!!! perhaps you could compile Season one’s and season to and up them up for sale …..Hint, hint…Nudge, nudge, say no more. I would buy one!!! just a thought for your perusal.
Can’t wait to see what you have planned…Love ya both and your scruffy new look.
Theories:
1) Andy isn’t affected by Maryanne because he’s an alcoholic? So he’s like already there on his little solo 24 hour Andy drinking party so he doesn’t need Maryanne’s googly-eyed magic. Like a there by choice kind of thing? I am obviously just making this shit up.
2) Lafayette, Tara’s mom, Hoyt, etc. didn’t get all googly eyed because they’ve never been in close proximity to Maryanne for an extended period of time. Or because Lafayette and Tara’s mom drink/used to drink a lot. Ditto flimsy Andy theory.
3) Sookie was glowing before because she was experiencing the effects of the V. Maybe she was just feeling glowy, not actually glowing. And remember when Daphne talked about the defenses supernaturals have against maenads? She said “and other stuff too” I think, as in besides the immunity to google-eye-ism. So maybe telepaths have that natural defense to… electroshock or whatever. Yeah, I think it’s weird too. At least they maybe brought it up before…
AND I FELT SO CHEATED! TB AND I HAVE AN AGREEMENT! I WAIT A WEEK, AND THEN I GET LIKE 55 MINUTES OF TRUE BLOOD!
All the people that aren’t effected by Mary Ann atm are people that were not present when she ‘dominated’ or used her powers to brain wash people.
First time I watched your vlog, you are FANTASTIC. I might have to watch the old ones. I agree with a few of the previous posters who say Laf, Jason, Hoyt, Tara’s mama are not under MA’s sway because they weren’t there or just aren’t that impressed by the party scene. No simple explanation for Andy, it would be nice if they explained that. She had to work really hard to get Tara, getting Tara must have been an important part of her plan. Oh and maybe the sookie light bright action had to to with her getting the “scratches” and being healed maybe the failed attempt at whatever gave her some kind of immunity, which would be more interesting that new powers imho.
Loving the vlog as usual. I don’t know what I will miss more when the season ends!
My short and sweet review:
I hated and loved Sookie’s Cocoon hands. I hated and loved the Sookie/Eric scene at the beginning. I concur that it just all feels too forced. It’s like they were afraid they weren’t going to be renewed for season three so they are dumping a bunch of random crap in there. Seriously, if they don’t tie up all the loose ends with Maryann et al, I’m going to be a miffed gal. Not that I will stop watching………..
Came back to catch up on replies because I still don’t know why some aren’t affected by Maryanne and wanted to know what others thought. Two thoughts came to me:
1) Andy’s one-eyed man in the blind line seemed like a throwaway, unless it’s a set up that Sam, the one-eyed man, will be the one to destroy Maryanne. I mean, he’s the reason she came to Bon Temps in the first place, so he should be the one to take her out. Everyone else is completely clueless as to how to get rid of her and, one by one, have been negatively affected in some way, including Bill, who ended up heaving out Sookie’s car window, but Sam, more and more, just keeps outsmarting her.
2) Cheese alert: Before season 2 began, Alan Ball swore Gran would make an appearance in the new season. I hope he wasn’t talking about that weird looking photo of her, Tara, and Sookie. Okay, and I am so reluctant to even type this out loud cause it is so cheesy, but what if Gran is the light that came out of Sookie’s hand to get Maryanne away from her? I mean, Sookie’s in trouble, Bill’s no help, he’s hurling all over Gran’s prized area rug, and Gran did have pride in her home, as she told Sookie in season one when she was cleaning up before Bill’s visit, so she just might come back to help get Maryanne out of her home.
Hi A & B !!!!
Thanks for the VLOG this week…! First things first…:
What I agree with:
The cutting off of 15 MINUTES almost made me call HBO and cuss em! LOL. The 5 folks in my lil group that watch TB and we TWEET and/or text throughout the show and EVERYONE sent the same tweet/text when the episode was over. WTF!!!!!! (((gggrrrrrr!!!!))). With the last three shows and so much seemingly “storyline” left to tell, I think they did a bit of a disservice by abruptly cutting it short. Again WTF HBO!!
2nd – I’m with Brian in not feeling that the season is coming together as well as it should. There are TWO episodes left and I still really couldn’t tell you exactly what the heck MaryAnn is. ((((I KNOW WHAT SHE IS.. but I don’t know WHAT she is or wants)))). LOL. As I’ve said before… I’m not that enthused about her storyline in the first place.
I kinda feel that this season has been a bit slow paced and they’re not explaining some things and lingering on others WAY TOO LONG. I think the possessed Tara kind of lasted a bit too long. WE MISS THE OLD TARA AND OLD LAFAYETTE!!! Thank goodness we were able to see MY BOY Lafayette show up this episode but what we loved last season is still missin a bit.
I have NO CLUE how they’re going to tie this one up.
Now.. ((((ANDY I HATE TO BE DISAGREEABLE TO YOU AGAIN!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!!!!))))… however… I TOTALLY didn’t agree with your rating of this week’s episode (6 1/2 Grace Jones’ Brian!!!) !! I LOVED THIS EPISODE!!!! I literally had to pause the shows SEVERAL times because of the FABULOUSLY FUNNY one liners through the ENTIRE show!!! OMGOODESS!!! Jason ONCE AGAIN stole the show…. OMG! He’s so much fun I can’t stand it!!! In my “group” of watchers, we all debate who we like the best out of Lafayette, Jason, Andy, Terri, and Hoyt; we who we believe so much FLARE and PIZAZZ to the show. I know I’m going to get a LOT of flack here for not mentioning PAM or Arleen. I’m REALLY afraid to say what I’m about to say here…. ((((looking around scared)))).. but Pam is not one of my favorite characters. I like her, but she’s not even in my top 5.
BEST BEST BEST lines this season were in this show. Don’t get me wrong, there have been a lot of Jason-ISMS that actually I could argue could rival this week’s, but goodness… I can’t get OVER how yummy he was this week! And the rest of the crew too!
Below are some of the lines we’ve been imitating all week!
Jason starts off my laugh fest after the Eric/Sookie dream and Jason says, “What were YOU dreaming about?” HI-LARRY-US!!!!
Andy – “And people that I was crazy cause I saw a pig!”
Jason – “If somebody can call me back and tell me if we’ve been attack by terrorists or what!?” and “There’s those fuc**ng eyes again!”
Jason – “They got a new waitress at Merlotte’s?”
Andy – “NOT THIS SH** AGAIN!”
Lafayette – “Jesus and I agreed to see other people, now that don’t mean we don’t still talk from time to time”.
Andy – “Even if you’re a sometimes nudist” (he said to Sam). LMAO!!!!
Andy – “ANNIE THE NANNY!”
Terry – “AMBUSH!! AMBUSH!!! and TIME OUT! TIME THE FU** OUT!, and “When I give an order, you fuc**n follow it… left..left…left, right, left!”
JASON-ISM – “If we’re gonna git outta here, we’re gonna need a bigger DIVERGENCE”. OMG… YOU GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!!!!! DIVERGENCE!!!!!
Lafayette – “Tara”.
Lafayette – “I aint sellin tonight creme cheese” And then did what we called the CHOPSTICK fingers. LAFAYETTE IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPPIE!!!
Jason (as the God who comes) – “You will all have great weather and good crops.. Now leave!”
Terry – “Bullsh*t. God has horns!” (Horns appear) “WHOOOAAA!!!”
Jason – “I SMITE THEE… SAM MERLOTTE… AAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!”
Lafayette – “Tara, if there was ever a time to listen to a white man, this would be it!”
Hoyt, “You’re gonna treat Jess with respect or I’m gonna lock your ass up in that cubby hole until vampire Bill gets home!”
PLEASE EVERYONE WATCH IT AGAIN…!!! Take in the one liners and enjoy how FUNNY this episode is!
Now quickly:
I WANNA DO BAD THINGS TO YOU; Bill’s catwalk strut into the queen’s lair made me clutch my pearls! GOODNESS BILL… !!! He was SSSSSSEEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXYYYYYYYY!!!!
WHATEVER SOOKIE – “I left everybody and look what happened.” Goddness. Get over yourself Sookie. (((rollin my eyes)))…
I don’t think they’re going to do too much with Sookie’s hand “STUPIFY” (from Harry Potter) moment this season. I think that will show up next season. I think they’re really going to play up the BILL/SOOKIE/ERIC love triangle NEXT season (combining a lot of books) and Bill is going to report to the queen Sookie’s “new” ability. I think that’s why Bill kept asking Sookie if she could “do that again”.
I can’t wait for this week’s episode and vlog!!
See ya next week!
I’m pretty sure that proximity to Maryann and having her focus her attention on you has a lot to do with whether you become one of her minions or not. Maxine Fortenberry didn’t go to any of Maryann’s parties, but she was sitting there drunk on several bottles of beer when Maryann came into Merlotte’s and ordered the entire bar to find Sam. When Tara and Eggs came back from their field trip and stumbled upon the orgy, they weren’t initially possessed– it took Maryann noticing that they were there.
Sam didn’t change until the last minute, I think, because he’s fighting like hell against letting anyone (besides Sookie) know that he’s a shifter. But when he realized that it was either that or get carried off, he didn’t have much of a choice.
The comparison of Maryann to Padma Lakshmi was awesome! I’ve just been getting into Top Chef and the impression you did was priceless.
