Batman Begins and Dark Knight mastermind Christopher Nolan (who also directed a movie called Inception that some people got far too worked up about, in my opinion) has announced that Anne Hathaway has been cast in The Dark Knight Rises as Selina Kyle, who of course is also Catwoman. Thomas Hardy – the incredibly hot slice of meatloaf who, along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s impossibly tight dance-pants, snuck Inception out from under Leonardo DiCaprio’s pointy little nose – will play Bane, who is apparently also some kind of villain who once broke Batman’s back.
Tom Hardy can break my back any day! Nyuk nyuk.
Let’s recap: Christian Bale is still Batman, even though you may have forgotten that he was even in The Dark Knight, as Heath Ledger stole the show. Now the very lovely, very talented and very goofball girl from The Princess Diaries will be slipping into the iconic leather catsuit to fight for the spotlight.
I love Hathaway as much as the next ‘mo. (Her brother is gay, she does showtunes, she was in Brokeback Mountain in a hot bad matron wig, etc.) But Idunno. I had trouble enough getting through her kind of off-key performance in Alice in Wonderland … but then again that movie was an abortion on all levels. I’m wanting to be excited about this news … so why am I having a hard time getting there?

Anne looks the part, but I’ve never seen her be sexual. Or dirty. Or carnally alluring in the way that I’ve always imagined Catwoman to be. But I’m keeping an open mind. The Chris Nolan villains have been interesting so far….
If you want to see the down and dirty side of Ms. Hathaway, take a look at a little film called Havoc; Drugs, Latino street gangs, and gang bangs…it’s the reason Disney never made a “Princess Diaries” 3.
I’m still annoyed we never got to see Anette Bening in the role. I really don’t want Hathaway in it. Then again, I don’t particularly like Christian Bale as the Bat either…
hum… she looks too fragile to be catwoman. let’s see where this goes but… naaah
I’m not feeling Anne as Catwoman. She’s a good actress but come on we need someone who can take it to another level like Michelle did and remove the taint that was Halle.
I’m not feeling this either. I say pay Mila Kunis whatever amount she wants to play Catwoman.
The villains have been interesting but the lady roles were a complete snooze… Batman has enough fascinating women in his life that we shouldn’t have to suffer another generic girlfriend role… I hope it’s not telling that the press release lists her as Selina Kyle with no mention of her Catwoman alter ego.
Unless this is a porno, I will never see it. Pfeiffer has nothing to worry about.
C’mon, guys. Do you honestly think they would have hired her if they didn’t think she could do it. She’ll be perfect as Seline (or is it Selena? I can’t remember) Kyle. And, the look alone is going to be great to see on some huge screen. Imagine her big, clowinish mouth and eyes framed with a black mask. Plus, she may stick out in people’s mind as the girl from Princess Diaries or some other romcom, bus she’s an actress. From what I’ve read, it doesn’t sound like you guys are saying she can’t act. Someone mentioned Havoc. Also there was Rachel Getting Married. I think once the photos come out and then the trailer, people are going to have their minds changed and interests piqued.
I hear you, definitely – she is a thoughtful and interesting actress, and I actually really like her a lot. I think my concern is partly that I would hate to see her try something so far outside of her comfort zone, not nail it (for whatever reason), and take a hit for it.
Okay, I just want to go to Chuck E. Cheese with her and cuddle during Golden Girls marathons. I admit it.
I’d have preferred Marion Cotillard. Hopefully they’re going a realistic route and it will be Selina Kyle: Cat Burgler/animal rights eco-terrorist in a catsuit, not actually calling herself Catwoman with the pointy ears and whatnot.
