Tail from the Crypt: Michael Murphy in “Count Yorga, Vampire”

Michael Macready and Michael Murphy in "Count Yorga, Vampire"

In this installment of our Tail from the Crypt retro-himbo horror beefcake feature: Woody Allen and Robert Altman fave Michael Murphy!

The talented thesp made a name for himself in highbrow pics like Manhattan, Nashville and An Unmarried Woman, but we love him for his performance as hunky SoCal gadabout Paul in Count Yorga, Vampire.

The handsome Murphy looks equally dashing in the film’s wonderfully dated fashions (see above – everything beige!), while succumbing to an alarmingly old-timey blood transfusion to save his vamp-stricken lady-love…

With Judy Lang

…or in an extended sequence where he strolls around shirtless and gets busy in a shaggin’ wagon.

And here’s the classic scene where Paul finds his girlfriend eating their cat:

Thanks for delivering the beef, Michael!

About Buzz

Buzz created CampBlood.org in 2003 to meet a need for a safe place for weirdos of all stripes to discuss horror movies from a queer perspective. Now that the campers have overtaken the Camp staff and locked them in the Arts & Crafts cabin he is questioning that decision.
