For those of you with only five fingers, I’ll help with the math – now we have the first SIX minutes of the upcoming premiere of Season 4 of True Blood (following last week’s first 3) to tide us over until June 26th.
When we last left Sookie, she was hanging tough with Peepaw Earl (the luminous, ageless Gary Cole) in a Greek restaurant at Epcot Center. As suspected, though, things are not as they seem…
Okay, this is hot. I’m officially on board with this fairy bullshit, because anything that features rotten fruit and extras from Troll 2 and Legend is aces in my book!! I mean, seriously – that WAS Meg Mucklebones scooting over to have another go at the tapas bar, right?
The luminous, ageless Meg Mucklebones
And like it or not, fairy tales are the new zombies, which were the new vampires. Heck – TWO network dramas starting in the fall are about fairy tales in the modern world (Grimm and Once Upon a Time), and there are several Snow Whites and other fairy tale stuff headed our way. I’m glad True Blood is ahead of the curve!
Thoughts? Anyone else slightly less terrified of the direction things are going after seeing this?

Well, this is definitely an improvement from last week. Now I’m curious about this wicked fairies, maybe they’re not so lame after all.
Thank Zeus! I was so tired of the fairy BS and now it gets interesting! If they couldn’t keep the book version of Claudine and Claude, they might as well just go wheels off and make them evil. Queen Mab was bringing some 1980′s Children’s Fantasy Movie Realness!
I was GAGGING on her Witchiepoo Realness. Watch her SERVE!
This is all kinds of awesome. Finally: A real and complex fairy world that’s not all flowing robes and pretty people. I am really excited about all this, and looking forward to season 4 more than ever!
The fairies (both good and bad) and Eric having a nice side (when his memory is “erased”) are making me think that this coming season may be all about duality (among other things).
WOW! It looks awesome. i can’t wait for this season to start and for Blood Work. And beside the witches and the fairies i can’t wait for Arlene unholy/demon baby. Andy i hope that if you are doing the doll again you do Mab.
okay, so first off that Meg Mucklebones reference nearly made me spit out a mouthful of water all over my keyboard, I was trying so hard not to laugh…and good comparison btw.
I honestly, I mean I loved season 3 despite it being all over the place and having about a million new characters, but season 4 looks like it will much more grounded and about the journeys of the characters already in the True Blood universe, which is really good.
The fairy stuff looks fairly entertaining (LOVE Gary Cole!!!) although I’m still all about the fang, but that fruit *shivers*, it looks like they’re all biting in lemon shaped candles, with the wax still hot and everything.
Why thank you! My one and only true aim is to destroy as many keyboards as possible via oral expulsion.
I agree. I was a little worried about the Fairy world but I am so on board now. It gave me chills when the “fake” world dissipated to reveal a darker world with trolls! EEK OMG isn’t Barry’s “God Father/MOther” a hunk! YUM and where can I can one of those lighted fruits…..Olive Garden? lol CANT WAIT!!!!!!!
Hey guys. I just popped in to tell you I’m looking forward to your video reviews as much as, if not more than, the actual show. I found you just before the end of S3 and went back to watch all your old reviews. You two are brilliant!
As for the fairy stuff? I’m still meh about it. My only hope for this season is for Alan Ball to keep his grubby paws off the Eric amnesia storyline and film it as close to the books as possible. i understand the two are different venues and I’ll concede keeping La La & making Jessica were great ideas. However, the whole Sam white trash/shapeshifter family, Jason’s Hot Shot wanna be a cop mess and Tara’s quivering lip took up far to much screen time.
Amen to that Hippychick! I hated all those story lines too. I got so bored of Jason’s romance with that girl who looks like she’s going on forty. Those storylines felt like daytime soap fodder to keep characters busy until something better came along. I’m sure Alan will do something bad at some point with Eric’s storyline that is going to make me throw my cheap old navy sandals at the screen. You don’t mess with Eric fans! LOL Buzz, Andy, Weezie and Humbert we miss you all! Will there perhaps be a pre-season show to discuss spoilers? Hey I girl can dream can’t she?
