It’s true, lady: We’re officially two-dimensional.
I’m really staked stoked to be able to announce a very special project that hubby/creative director Andy Swist has whipped up for this season of True Blood: Our very own True Blood paper dolls!
Yes, starting this week you can download Andy’s original cut-and-play designs (grab ‘em over here) and keep your officemates, friends, cats, or spare corpses entertained. Be sure to watch the vlog for info on the all-new CampBlood Cubicle Puppet Show Challenge, and check back every week for a new vlog and a new character’s doll!
This week Lafayette and Pam get the Blood Work! goodness rolling with a walk-off in our refrigerator. Who will take home the prize of Bon Temps’ “Most Fierce”? And aside from that, what did we all think of the explosive last episode, “Timebomb”?
Join the papercut-enhanced fun, below!

First off Great new site…Mozel Tov !!
I agree on the 9.5 for this episode totally it rocked!! It was funny, serious, and Shocking, I was screaming at Tara Don’t eat it! You dumb ass!!! Jason and the Reverend’s wife was both funny and awesome..Loved the paint ball to the balls…to funny. Eric becoming humanized is great was to start the triangle. Godric was fantastic with his points about Vampires not evolving. Great stuff.
Meanwhile back in Bon Temps it is really hitting the fan. I wonder why the sheriff and deputy are not hit by Maddening Maryann and I think Andy being left out is because he is a drinker and remember how Maryann seemed to like him.
As for Lorna Dune jeeez could she get a clue and maybe a sense of style and ability to apply make up, Please. But another great setup I agree. Bill and Eric are still a little pale for me and I hate their red eyes. Yes I also agree he needs a bang trim or new hair style, like Eric.
I too am out of work (Theater manager) so I am going to have a load of free time to play with the paper dolls so does my house qualify as my cubicle???
Love you Guy to death Keep it going
Tara has gotten so dumb, I miss the sassyness! and seriously, shes the worst house guest/room mate ever. nevermind just going at it with eggs in the foyer but they completely ruined grans nice table cloth! that blood is not going to come out even if they tried to wash it out asap
p.s. those dolls are super cute!
I agree with Nyssa – nice job with the paper dolls, Andy!
Started my morning off with a laugh, guys. Love the vlog.
As for the hunter souffle, once they got eating it, it looked like cherry jello to me.
Oh you guyz, this reminds me of my colorforms dress up kits, lovin it.
Godric and his tired teen vamp sydrome, TTVS, you know the American Vampire League has a hotline for this. Are you sick of the eternal doldrums, Is your teen angst getting you down the last 500 years or so? Well put that stake away, call our toll free #, operators are standing by.
I guess I’m the only one, but I didn’t like this episode or the apparent resolutions to some of the story lines.
The Tara storyline is static and boring. At the end of Season 1 I thought that Maryann was going to be a great subplot but they’ve practically been treading water the whole season.
Andy isn’t being given enough to do.
Lafayette isn’t really doing anything. Which is a shame considering how much potential his character has.
Doesn’t it seem strange that Godric killed Gabe when he was so determined not to kill any human? Also, Gabe said “Godric! It’s me!” or something like that just before Godric snapped his neck. That’s a very odd thing to say. Maybe Gabe knew something that Godric didn’t want to be revealed?
I didn’t like Luke’s story arc at all. Why introduce him in the first place if he was just going to be a suicide bomber? I thought Luke would at least turn out to be a closet case.
The Fellowship of the Sun seems so incompetent that they fail miserably as being a credible antagonist for this season 2.
I know there are 4 episodes to go – but I don’t like how easily these plots are resolving themselves.
One last problem I had was – Couldn’t Eric just use his super speed to get Sookie out of the Fellowship of the Sun? I think I recall Bill or Eric using superspeed to escape the Police raid in season 1 and Bill was Carrying Sookie.
It’s these plots holes that bother me about True Blood so far.
“Let the Right One In” is available on Netflix. I’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks so much for recommending and reviewing all the horror movies on this site. Horror movies are the best thing ever!
I think Jessica’s, you know, growing back is cruel. A girl should only have to go through that once. I remember watching it, being mortified, then thinking “get yourself a lesbian sex book and get creative.” We have lesbian sex workshops. Maybe Hoyt could go to one and learn some things.
Thanks for the Whatever Tara moment. I’ve been wondering what’s wrong with that girl pretty much all season. Even when she’s not acting like a zombie, she’s not acting like Tara.
Great vlog. Cute paper dolls. I like Pam’s paper doll voice…very masculine. You know, Kristen Bauer did play “Manhands” on Seinfeld.
@CoryJ: There’s more to be revealed about Godric, but you’re definitely on to something there. And you’re right – Eric can fly, so why didn’t he just zip her out of there? Answer: In the book he was never in the Fellowship building to begin with, so … well there ya go. As for Lafayette, I’m hoping that he’ll play into the resolution of the MaryAnn storyline in a major way, but I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up.
@AngelaS.: WTF! I had no idea Pam was “Manhands”!! That’s awesome. I just knew she was a nice girl from Racine, WI who lives on a ranch with her rescued animals. LOVE HER.
Here’s a clip so you can see what our beloved Pam looked like in 1996:

I assume her date with Jerry was at night.
I want to point something out to you two, that might have slipped by A LOT of people. Remember when Debbie said that supernaturals are immune to Maryanne’s powers? How come when Andy went to the orgyfest [where Sam was almost killed] he wasn’t succumbed to the powers of Maryanne? Is Andy a supernatural?! HELLO!
Also, I have to say me and my friends LOVE you guys. You both are fabulous, and as a preemie queen myself having two great horror-loving role models is great <3
I brought up the Andy-Supe thing last week under my email ID yourpalgigi. The replies I got pointed out that Andy walked in late, so maybe he didn’t have time to get influenced, so to speak. Maybe he is a Supe, Alan Ball can change things from the books (and he certainly already has). Personally, I think it would be great. I’ve finally started to like his character since the whole Maryanne thing. He could be a nice werepanther or something, and not realize it, yet. He could “come out”
. Or maybe it’s simply because he walked in after the orgies were up and running. But can True Blood really be that simple?
Just saw on AfterEllen that the upcoming Queen of Louisiana’s, Sophie-Anne, girlfriend, and Sookie’s cousin, Hadley, I think her name is, has been cast. Let’s hope we get a genuine lesbian couple, not just girls acting like they’re playing tonsil hockey for entertainment.
Let the Right One In, sigh, what a good movie, saw it at the Angelica a while ago and it was on my mind for days. It’s Swedish isnt it, like Alexander (my favorite Swedish export). Thanks for reminding me about that little sad lonely preteen vamp, she was so ferocious when hungry and so sweet after her meal, just like a real kid.
Yay! Paper dolls! Genius!
Also, loving Godric and Eric this episode. I wonder if we’ll find out if Barry is OK. I hope so!
First: Love the paper dolls! Great work!
Two: Eric WAS at the Dallas party in the second book. SPOILERS He was pretending to be a vamp from California to infiltrate the nest and he was with Sookie during the driveby, although he didn’t save her from the FotS like the show portrays.
Remember…..”Eric plays Sookie for a sucker……” That becomes so important later on!
Three: Andy may be a supe of some kind. But Weres and were-animals have to fight not to turn at the full moon once they hit puberty. The show can change that, but it was revealed that that is what happened to Sam as a kid, so I assume they are sticking to that mythology. He could be something else, I imagine, maybe something new. THAT would be awesome.
I am almost through reading the books for the second time, if you can’t tell, LOL.
True Blood is the highlight of my week, but your vlog is a very, very close second. I love you guys and look forward to your take on the week’s episode. As I’m watching I often wonder, “What are Brian and Andy going to say about THAT??” But this week you failed to comment on one scene that I was sure would light your fire: Jason asking Bill if the hug was “good for him?” I was on the floor laughing! What did you guys think?
Totally agree with you on the “Whatever Tara” moment. She’s lost her spunk. Remember the Tara who told off that woman in the hardware store in the pilot? I miss that Tara. I want her back, along with that sassy, hip-swinging Lafayette.
My “WHATEVA SOOKIE” moment on this episode is where she bitched out to Eric, “You let me walk into a trap! blahblahblahblah…” I was like, HELLO!!!!! Did she forget that she freakin’ VOLUNTEERED to get into that church?
I second everyone wanting to bitchslap Tara back into reality.
Tephy: OMFG You are sooooooooo right!! I guess I had a “Whateva Andy” moment and forgot that Sookie volunteered!! LMAO Sharp as a tack, you are!! I guess I gotta stop boozing and pay closer attention!!
infinite kudos on the paper dolls! i wanna win what ever is lurking in you guys couch…hopefully it’s a charcoal gray ‘strange taste’ large t-shirt, but whatever….maybe the next doll can be a sookie doll so we can do BAD THINGS TO IT! lol.
hell fucking yeah ‘timebomb’ was da bomb! (yeah that term is past it’s expiration date but i had to use it! it fits with the title) of course you guys are on point with the rundown BUT i have to say the funniest part of the show was the steve newlin/jason stackhouse smackdown after everyone left. ‘IT’S LIKE HE SUCKED OUT MY BRAIN AND PLANTED HIS OWN BABIES IN THERE!’ oh sweet baby jesus was that whole scene hilirious. jason never lets me down.
and my WHATEVER SOOKIE moment has to be a WHATEVER SAM! (sorry my shap shifting sexy beast with perfect hair!) ok, you see a dead body, which is basically a staple of merlottes now, and you preceede to try to cover it up THEN get a change of heart and call the police?! **rolls eyes** first of all Bon Temps is getting too weird, so you need to move in with me Sam. I will protect you
second, when you saw that body you should have bolt. that situtation had SETUP written all over it. DUH! WHATEVER SAM!
anyways, you boys rock like the casbah! can’t wait for next weeks Blood Work…oh, and true blood too.
First off, LOVE you both so much.
secondly, totes on the whatever tara moment, but tephy you are so on point with that, I was WHATEVER when sookie was blahblahblahing.. sometimes i wanna slap-a-telepath but it’s too funny when she starts ranting.
but suuriously, Godric and Eric can totally get it.. Eric is soooo dreamy with his newly found emotional badself.
SIGH, bring on next week!
I adore the paper dolls!!!
I’m gonna have to disagree with the Whatever Sookie moment Tephy came up with: I think what Sookie was saying was that Eric shouldn’t pretend like she wasn’t in danger going in there, when he tried to pretend like he hadn’t even imagined that would happen. I don’t think she was bitching about having to go in there in the first place.
Another great vlog! The dolls are super cute! I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention Eric’s nerd impersonation to the fellowship gaurds! I was rolling when I saw that! You guys rock!
Watching the the UK through certain means *cough*, but don’t even bother getting hold of an episode until I know I can watch your vlog straight afterwards. It’s not the same without it! Another ‘yay’ vote for Jason’s “Was that alright for you?” comment. BTW Let The Right One In is as amazing and fantastic as everybody says.
yeah…eric’s nerd imperession was too funny. i guess to be a nerd you gotta raise your voice a few octives and lower your head. i was thinking to myself, do nerds normally wear black wife beaters and leather jackets though?
Love the dolls lads – Pam’s been in pumps at work all week and is screaming for more accessories but she can’t have the weiner dog till she behaves. Am hoping for an Eric and a Tara doll this week – to knock some sense into that dumbass hooker girl quick smart and bring back that sassy gal I loved so much from series one; and to do bad things with that too dreamy beserk warrior. In the timeless words of Miss Grace Jones, keep it up!
@Angel:
That Eric moment was pretty awesome – the hunched shoulders and the goofy nerd accent were primo. Added to the Andy Bellafleur impression that Alexander did a few weeks back, he’s proving himself to be a very clever comic actor. I’m so glad they’re giving him more to do, because last season he left me cold.
Thanks to everyone for the comments!! Glad you like the dolls!
Have you guys heard that the Brooklyn bar Sweet Ups is doing True Blood viewing parties every Sunday night? I heard they even serve “True Bloody Marys” of which you can order different blood types for different flavors etc etc!
You guys should totally do a Vlog about it. I’m totally gonna try and check it out this weekend!
@George: Yes!! I actually just walked by Sweet Up’s today and was going to drop by to ask them if they’d be alright with filming a bit for our next vlog there. Maybe we’ll see you on Sunday!
Man, I think I miss these recaps more than I miss the show. Andy’s so cute, and I love Brian’s bishplz faces.
